Simple and Great Art

Club Life is a vanilla eroge (h-scenes are all at the very end of each girl's route (not including the bad end)) from Dharker Studio (formerly known as A.J. Tilley) about a guy (self-insert main character) who is forced by his math teacher (Raven AKA Ms. Nevara) to join two school clubs and stick with them for the entirety of his senior year of high school so that he can get accepted to at least one of the colleges that he is looking into since all of the ones that he's interested require extracurricular activities.

Regardless of which two of the three club choices that you choose, you can end up with 3 of the four different girls or none at all (one from either of the two clubs, the teacher, or none for the bad end). There isn't a harem route, so don't try to find one. The story sounds like it would be out of an anime/manga, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The game has 4 girls that you can end up with, though you could also end up alone if you just want to see what happens or if you're just that bad at figuring these things out. I highly recommend checking out the walkthrough/guide posted on the game's Steam page, as it tells you what are the important choices you need to make for each route, though I would recommend just following them exactly to be safe.

The overall story is nice, but I am not happy with the fact that the Raven's route (Ms. Nevara) is virtually nothing at all and that Janet's route is almost indistinguishable from Kylie's route (if you choose the swimming club and newspaper club) except for the end and one or two short scenes. Both of these characters deserve MUCH more in terms of story and time spent with the main guy (AKA you). They both get hardly any screen time, even on their own routes. It's absolutely frustrating, considering they were both the girls I was most interested in before playing this visual novel. That alone is why I'm rating this three stars.

That being said, the art style is one that I particularly like. The sprites (still characters superimposed over the background that you see 99% of the time) look very nice and I didn't see anything wrong with them. The CGs are also good and the h-scenes that they are for are also nice, albeit fairly quick/short, which was a bit of a disappointment since I look forward to/enjoy those types of scenes in the visual novels that I play.

The soundtrack is comprised of a few songs and is available for purchase on the visual novel's Steam page for $5.00. The songs are enjoyable and fit almost all of the scenes, with the exception being the song for the swim club's meetings, which sounds like it would fit an h-scene instead.

Overall, I rate this game a 3.5/5, though I give it 3 stars on MangaGamer's star rating system because it doesn't deserve a 4 star rating due to my issue with Janet's and Raven's (Ms. Nevara's) routes. I'd recommend getting this game using your MG points or if you have $15 to spare for fun. It's not a bad game and the replay value is good since there are 4 different girls to end up with, plus the bad end (not ending up with any of them or the one you wanted, depending on what you choose). I plan on buying the soundtrack soon since I liked it a fair amount and it isn't too pricey. Not a must buy game, but definitely an enjoyable one. Kylie was my favorite route, though I always like following the order in the walkthroughs/guide that I read.
Simple, fun

This is the same studio that did beach bounce. Anyways, the premise is you, ordinary HS student who is going to graduate, has to join a club. Though the game is obvious, it does not try to pretend to be something its not. There are a number of other ways to spend 15 bucks, and I thought it a worthwhile distraction. The art is clear and crisp. I'm not that big into h-scenes, but it also had a semi-coherent plot as well. It seems like the developer wanted to do more but ran out of funs. Still, worth the money. In my opinion, better than princess evangiline, though I am one of two people to not like that game.
