We need more Rance. I'll buy any Rance game, huge fan!
Frustrating
inethil
Like every Alicesoft game there is good and bad, but I cannot resist commenting on Rance 5D, which I would recommend skipping in favour of 6. The random game mechanics remove most skill interaction which is greatly frustrating, but would have been livable, were it not for unvoidable midbosses. These, story-irrelevant, encounters are sometimes absolutely lethal, unskippable, unwinnable slaughters. Why the developer would have included something like that I cannot imagine. The first one I encountered I had to replay around ten times to get lucky enough to win (combat is random), but the second ...
Chapter 4, Rance is alone for a bit (avoiding spoilers) and he hits an encounter which invariably kills him by the second round. Impossible to win or avoid. Let me say that again, story-irrelevant, impossible to win, impossible to avoid. All you can do is go way back in the current chapter and cross your fingers. I am a gamer, not a gambler - that sucked.
As it is standalone, skipped despite being almost finished, my frustration level peaked.
One last note, several guides mention the benefit of repairing weapons, but for the life of me I could not, 80% through the game, find any option to do that. Also frustrating, as I have fought with broken weapons with no other option.
So great!

It was such a nice game. Rance was such an asshole. Every time I thought he may still has his kind heart, he acted the direct opposite. Please release more Rance series so that I can purchase and support Alicesoft. I already played Evenicle, it was a nice game as well.
Great game

Rance series worth big money, don't think, buy and play. :)
Great game!

A good game. You get value for your money at this company. I just wish they soon sent the other eight games of this series out. Uncensored. It is possible to find them, they are just not uncensored.
TAKE ALL MY MONEY!

Best game Rance out of Rance!
The translation is crappy
Jackski
As someone who played this game multiple time since it first came out, I will say with a bias that this game is one of the best classic jrpg, and at the same time a very promising hgame with h-scenes, plots, and character developments strongly tightened together. Don't be fooled by the publication date, some hardcore CGs are way better than the one's we see today.
The combat system is very outdated and simple, but the dungeon explore is up the notch, especially for OCD players like me. The difficulty is ok, but just like many other old-fashioned jrpgs, you really need to spend time farming and leveling.
What really bothers me is the translation. There are a lot of typos and bad grammar in the translation, but what's most frustrating is that the tone of speech usually wouldn't match the character and situation. I realize this translation is completely done by one person, so may you should find some more people next time. Maybe most of you are grateful already for the first English release, but I believe since this version is sold legally and officially, we should expect some more from the translator.
BTW, for NTR haters, this game doesn't contain any NTR elements, but do contain lots of times when the protagonist NTRs other people, and, well, some slightly guro scenes, but nothing too much.
Awesome game and great value

The games are a bit dated now, but still golden and the HD touchups help. 5D is short and frustrating, but fun. VI is challenging, great story, great characters, and great lore as you can expect from the Rance universe. I've put over 60 hours into VI and I'm maybe 2/3 of the way through, in terms of content you get your moneys worth. My biggest complaint was them localizing chan to little. And unlike the japanese version, it's fully uncensored!
A masterpiece

Rance VI is easily in my top 2 of the best RPG ever. Instantly bought it when i saw it was finally here, Hope to see more Rance translated...
The best seris of game ever!
Psychocat
It is hard to get used with Alicesoft since there is a lot of brutal scenes. Other than that, these series are a masterpiece. Rance 5D is a bit tricky to play. But Rance 6 is awesome beyond words. Contacts like CG, character, dungeon, are really awesome! I hope there will be a release of the other Rance games as well, I can't wait or Rance VII and Rance VIII, I hope they will have a hard copy of them:)
The best Eroge series
LoveMachine
You just can't regret buying and moreover playing Rance VI. Rance 5D stands as a bonus I'd say, but Rance VI is just awesome. Thanks a LOT Mangagamer for having brought to us an official translation for the Rance series. I beg of you, Go on with the remaining ones. I just can't wait for my dream to play Rance quest and Rance IX in english to come true.
Awesome RPG

Rance 5D is pretty fun, but it's just a side bonus. It's a wacky adventure games with some frustrating aspects, so don't force yourself to beat it if you're not having fun with it like I did. There's not much plot, but the characters and their interactions are a joy.
Now, Rance VI is worth 35 dollars and then some. The battle system is quite solid with a somewhat unique aspect of charging up and stunning opponents (even bosses). It's not that unique, but it has some quirks to keep it fresh.
First, the dungeon crawling aspect is where this game really shines. The game is a first person dungeon crawler that has a 3D environment that you can look around in. Climbing up and down stairs doesn't involve a loading time, which is rare for this type of genre. It helps that it's not just one big dungeon and rather a multitude of locations to explore, which definitely helps variety. Almost every trap is avoidable by looking around in said environment or keeping track of the minimap, which minimizes frustration.
Level grinding is largely unnecessary during the main quest, and is pretty easy. Orb grinding is annoying, but it never gets as annoying as level grinding tends to be in these types of games and is overall a very minor flaw.
The plot is excellent with political commentary and lots of drama and comedy. It's serious without being too pretentious, light-hearted without being incredulous. Yeah, there's comedic rape, but it's surprisingly unjarring unless you're that easily offended. I'd say it's excellently paced, though some may complain that it's a bit slow until the halfway point. There's a significant amount of canon post-game content too, so try to get the true end. The post game events aren't as well paced as the in-game events, and some of them do feel like they should have been integrated in the main game, but those events arguably would have messed up the pacing of the in-game plot.
Lastly, the characters are an absolute joy with good development for most of them (other than blatant background characters) and great dialogue for all of them. The quality of the characters themselves and how fun their interactions are is the strongest point of the Rance series in general, as this particular aspect is great in every Rance game (even when actual plot or character development is weak).
Overall, the gameplay time for the main game is about 45 hours with story relevant post game content probably taking about an extra 10 hours. There are a few extra bosses, but they aren't that much harder than the post-game story final boss. There's also madness mode, but the developer put that in for the lulz, so the grinding that mode takes is insane.
In short, buy it!
You've gotta pick this up!

I cannot truly describe just how very awesome this game is; it just freakin is. You like RPGs? Get these games. You like eroge? Get these games.
To Mangagamer and AliceSoft, thanks a million for porting and translating this. Now, if I may be so greedy like a certain green clad protagonist, how about get to work on localizing the rest of the Rance series? The customers exist in droves!
Epic RPG
FrankTodd
I have a few questions for you. Do you enjoy great RPGs and quests? Do you enjoy a story filled with comedy and a fantastic cast? Do you enjoy epics with protagonists fighting against cruelty and horror? Do you enjoy sexy scenes that matter as they tie into the plot, or some side scenes catering to different fetishes? Do you enjoy fun and challenging gameplay in well-designed environments? If you have answered yes to at least three of these questions, why are you still reading this, leave right now and buy Rance VI! One of the best RPGs ever. I didn't say eroge RPGs. I just said RPGs. And you get Rance V as a bonus, though while short is still filled with humorous moments and cute characters. Go! Now! Enjoy it like I did!
Fantastic game
Rance
Rance VI is a stellar dungeon crawling RPG game. I personally think that Sengoku Rance and Kichikuou Rance are better games, but Rance VI is fantastic too. The incredibly affordable $35.00 price tag only makes this deal better. Gameplay in Rance VI involves taking a cast of characters through dungeons and clearing out random turn-based battles and bosses. The character cast is wonderful, featuring characters who really run the gamut in terms of personality. Of course, Rance is the greatest protagonist of all and consistently amuses the player with every outrageous thing he does.
Rance 5D is not that great though. It's too short and relies way too much on RNG. The story is also subpar. It hardly even features a real villain or primary conflict. In fact, Rance VI sort of feels like it continues Rance 5D's plot.
Overall, I would highly recommend this to anybody who enjoys RPGs and/or the Rance series.
More Rance!
gam
Give me more Rance, and I will give you more money.
These games are the best.
Great !
Jokernoir
I must confess that I love the Rance series and the VI is one of the best if not the best. The Gameplay is quite simple (very classic for a rpg) but very enjoyable. The length of the game is great (I've finished the game after 40 hours of playing). The number and the quality of the CGs are very good too. A must have ! As for Rance 5D the game is quite short (about 8 hours of playing)and -in my opinion- less enjoyable because we're a little bit too "passive". It's still quite enjoyable because it's a Rance's game.
Good stuff
Salty
You get Rance 5 and 6 in this bundle. Personally I'd pay this amount just for Rance 6, Rance 5 is just a bonus!
Keep the Alicesoft games coming and I'll keep buying!
Very good, highly recommend!!

Much like the other Alicesoft title available on Mangagamer now, Beat Blades Haruka, Rance VI is a fun, interesting game to play on top of being an adult game. I haven't finished yet, but have already had a lot of fun with all the crazy characters and situation the game introduces. Way more than just a visual novel!
An adventure like no other.
pozertron
The game is like nothing you would find on MangaGamer and is an absolute must have for any eroge collector. Most Rance games tend to be either too hard or too easy, R6 strikes perfect balance and gives you enough creative tools to not get stale or hard. It has enough content to last you for around 60 hours per playthrough excluding the optional content. The story is great but, newcomers to the series might not understand all the finer details if they haven't played previous Rance games "they are freeware and can be found and downloaded for free, each has a fanmade translation patch". I highly recommend this game to everyone regardless if you like rape/rpg/oldschool dungeon crawling or not. In fact, if MG releases this game Physically, i'll buy it again. Hopefully they'll add some fan service like posters and stuff.
Great games!!

Rance 6 is definitely one of the best rance game in its series. So I bought even tough I already played the game, but hey is 1280x960 resolution.
Rance VI + 5D
MaikDragon
Just played Rance series long ago and enjoyed a lot all of them, so I wanted to thanks all people making this thing happening, Alicesoft, Mangagamer and Arunaru Translations, without them, we'll never could get a Rance game published in english. I purchased pre-order and waited long time for this game to come in english, but finally that time ended and actually enjoing it ^_^.
If you never played a Rance game, you just don't know how fun can be on it's own, so at least try it, if you did, only a word to say... it's a Rance game, so you know... xD
If you like Rance, I highly recommend you to buy this game and support the company, so Alicesoft continue bringing us their all known good titles in the future !!
