Alice Toriumi
A girl that appears in Tohru’s dreams. She claims to be able to wander from dream to dream, but there’s no way to prove it.
Her words and actions are often frustrating, because she seems to know various things but then it turns out she really doesn’t.
But it’s at least certain that she’s an ally of Tohru’s... Probably.
She is never really on her guard.
|
|
Saki Hasuno
Tohru’s childhood friend.
She used to be a good, honest girl, but after a certain point she became Tohru’s little sister,
and turned into a scary girl who entangles her brother in her wiles. (According to Tohru.)
And the scariest part is that she does so almost unconsciously, so her brother is always
troubled.
With circumstances being what they are, it’s not that she has a complex towards her brother.
Incidentally, her family are rich landowners.

Yayoi B. Lutwidge
Tohru’s sempai and the head of the school science club who has returned to Japan.
As her name suggests, she’s half Japanese, and as you can see, she has figure distinct from a Japanese person.
One mustn’t be deceived by her appearance, because she is always behaving in a calculating manner—or so she says, but Tohru thinks she mostly just relys on intuition.
But it’s impossible to know what she’s thinking behind that smile.
|
|
Keiko Hirasaka
Saki’s classmate and Tohru’s underclassman. The principal’s niece.
She doesn’t have many friends because she doesn’t talk much and often glares at people. She plays guitar as a hobby, and sometimes sings in front of the train station.
Often behaves coldly, and kept Tohru and co. at a distance at first. She doesn’t like Yayoi because the latter is over-familiar and it’s hard to know what she’s thinking.
It goes without saying that she’s from a well-off family.

Maia Naitou
The worst trauma that appears in Tohru’s dreams.
She’s the one behind him getting trapped in dreams.
But as long as he had lucid dreams, she wasn’t supposed to appear ever again.
|
|
Tetsuya Nezu
Tohru is a triple threat with his menacing expression, poor sociability, and tendency to collapse suddenly, but Tetsuya is a friend who tells him not to worry about it, like it’s no big deal.
He’s a thoughtless idiot, but he’s also a good, innocent person.
But it’s a pain when he and his girlfriend Asahi are together. In a sappy couple sort of way.

Asahi D. Lutwidge
Even though her hair and stuff obviously stand out, she is not showy. She is a comforting small animal. Always smiling, and none of her classmates have ever seen her get seriously angry.
She doesn’t mind Tohru’s more troublesome aspects, so she’s another one of his few friends. When she and Tetsuya are together they suddenly form their own world, so that’s a pain.
In a sappy couple sort of way.

Mia Takahara
An employee of the company Saki’s father runs, she is currently under company orders to act as Saki’s chaperon.
Driving away the pesky insects who approach Saki is part of her job, and towards her greatest enemy at the moment, Tohru, she harbors mixed feelings of trust and hostility.

Excellent Story Focused VN
digitalschism Hapymaher crafts a dramatic and interesting story with well written characters and emotional depth. The art style is excellent and the music is very memorable.
If I had to complain about anything it would be the pacing. Some scenes feel entirely unnecessary but ultimatley this is a minor complaint.
If you are looking for a VN that focuses on story (the H scenes are still excellent) then Hapymaher is well worth buying. |
it's good experience .
Lutia HapyMaher is Solid Visual Novel that use literature word thank for MangaGamer that translate this one very smooth and easy to read their team did a great job !
this game will bring us to experience of Dreaming while playing like it's protagonist symptom that made him unable to sleep because of awake like dream called lucid dream that we will feel it by many brilliant cg artworks with modern japanese style combined with good background-Musics and some full of feature game click trigger . that made this game emotional and circimstance very affective.
in additional this game voice-actors made character voice line became powerful and thought my emotion.
about story plot all heroines have good routes every routes have it's own identity in some part it will break your hear latter became heart-warmer and sometime it's twisted again lol (that why i called it's a dream-like experience). and this game has many detail so you should gradually read it if you fell tied just suspend and re-read it latter.
about Hentai although this game trailer show many sex appeal pictures and it's CG artwork of this game has many Fan-service by show heroines panty (for me, i don't like this kind of fan-service) and good H-Scene but this game is so long so that it's not match with someone that just want Nukige(Fullload of sex VNs).
ps. i'm not VN hard fan ,additional i'm not English nature user so i'm slow and gradually to play this but this made me very love it so much. Hope you enjoy it Have a good dream :D . |
Really great story!
UriahKurai There will be no spoilers in this review. All I'll say is that this game is really amazing, if you're into eroge with longer stories this will be right up your alley. The general setting involves dreams with the main character, Tohru, being capable of lucid dreaming and remembering the exact details of his dreams after a certain incident occured. Unlike the previously localized "ChronoClock" by the same studio, the H-scenes are part of the story and not just limited to the extras.
As for the heroines themselves: My personal favourite heroine from this game is Saki her personality is really interesting and her interactions with the other characters, especially Tohru, can be hilarious. Keiko is also a favourite of mine, I wouldn't call her a kuudere or dandere however she's kinda the lone wolf type and her annoyed personality leads to some great interactions. Alice is something else all together, you can't really talk about her without spoiling the story, although at her first appearance she seems like a token deredere girl there is more to her than that. Yayoi is the older girl heroine of this game and it's hard to judge her personality because you never quite know when she's being her true self, she's quite the tease towards just about every other character. Finally, Maia in the early parts of the story plays somewhat of an antagonistic role, in some routes she continues that role while in others she doesn't really play a part. Maia doesn't really get much screentime in general rather unfortunately.
The story is set up as 8 chapters separated by interludes and the 8th chapter is the main chapter for the heroine who's ending you chose. The first bad end is in the second chapter if you make the wrong choice, and if you fail to enter a route the game ends in the seventh chapter. Also, since the game is so story focused, you may get confused depending on the order you do the heroine routes, another reviewer listed the order he recommended for clearing the routes I followed that order and understood the story quite well in the end, despite the fact the story really does mess with your mind.
I personally think the game is worth the money you have to pay to get it, however if you'd prefer to wait for a sale that's also reasonable.

Really deep stuff...
BlackDuke This game is certainly not for everyone - only for true connoisseurs.
If you like simple, straightforward stories that merely provide the fillers between tons of H-Scenes or supply a way to spend an hour of leisure time every other day, better turn to other games. But if you are willing to immerse yourself into a twisted, emotional tale full of tragic, moving scenes, multi-faceted characters and lots of great one-liners, you should definitely consider playing Hapymaher. Oh, and it also has a really good soundtrack, by the way - and arguably the best getaway vehicle in the history of entertainment;-)
Someone once told me that the measure of good art is its ability to evoke a true emotional response from you. If that's true, then to me, Hapymaher certainly is great art: there were times I sat on the edge of my seat at the trials of Tohru and his friends. Sure, I used skip during the common route after the first two character playthroughs (the common route is a bit long and mostly uniform), but as soon as the individual routes started, I really got what I paid for.
So once again: if you like games that give you more than the usual fare of the business, then try this one out. Hopefully enough people will buy it to make MG consider adapting the fandisc - I'm anxious to see how the story continues! |
Overall Solid VN
restricted12345 Honestly, my expectations were set pretty low because of the reputation of that other Purple Software VN released in the West, but I'd say that I really liked Hapymaher.
Presentation: The CGs are well drawn, there are some nice scenes with a moving background, and the OST is really great. I honestly like the dynamic text box too. It's a minor detail, but it helps with the immersion.
Characters: Most of the heroines are likable in their own way early on. Maia is especially great, even if she's more of a side character than a proper heroine. The protagonist is meh at first and same goes for Alice, but the character development they receive in the true route improves them drastically.
Plot: Pretty good. It requires some willing suspension of disbelief, but it's about dreams and such. It can get a bit confusing at times, but those times are few. That said, the one major flaw of Hapymaher is that it's a bit bloated with SOL scenes. It's not a major flaw, but I'd say that there are a few too many banal scenes that could have been trimmed down. Otherwise, the pacing is fine, especially for a VN this large. One plus about the plot overall is that the H-scenes are surprisingly well-integrated. They feel like a natural part of the scenario rather than something that's jammed in for the sake of fan service. They don't feel jarring unless they are supposed to feel jarring, at least that's what it seems like.
Routes: Honestly, there's no bad heroine route. Well, Maia's route is too short, but that's because her route is more of an extension of Saki's than something standalone for reasons that make sense in the context of the setting. In any case, I liked all of them. As for the order, true route should definitely be played last, and it's probably a good idea not to go to Saki or Alice first. I personally recommend Keiko, Yayoi, Maia, Saki, Alice (normal end), and Alice (true end), but you can deviate from that a bit without major consequences.
Overall, I'd say to buy it. Despite some issues, it's worth the price. Hapymaher is a solid VN with good presentation, great characters, and a surprisingly engaging plot. |
