HuniePop is a unique RPG experience for PC, Mac and Linux. It's a gameplay first approach that's part dating sim, part puzzle game, with RPG-like systems and a visual novel style presentation. It's an
independent effort by a western developer for a western audience with the goal of breathing some new life into a genre that is greatly underrepresented both in the western market and the independent games
scene.
- 8 gorgeous girls each with their own personalities, preferences and style. (Rumor has it there are several secret characters to unlock as well!)
- More than 20 in-game locations each with beautiful hand painted environment art and many with full day/night cycles.
- Over 250 unique items (food, drinks, gifts, accessories) that you can purchase, unlock, collect and give as gifts.
- A beautifully composed soundtrack containing over 20 tracks of original music inspired by eastern pop, jazz and bossa nova melodies.
- Thousands of lines of dialog, fully and professionally voice acted, complete with a unique character lip-syncing system.
- Customize girls' appearances with unlockable outfits and hairstyles! The girls will also dress up for dates! (Or dress down afterwards...)
- Collect nearly 50 stunning CG photo's depicting the girls in various scenarios, including steamy bedroom scenes.
- An addicting match-3 style puzzle dating system with it's own unique twists including upgradeable traits/stats, the ability to move any number of positions and special date gifts that have a variety of interesting effects on the puzzle.

Great one...
Danieru This game kept me about 55h totally hooked. It's pretty challenging and gives the exact point of "spice" to a puzzle like Candy Crush. The most amazing thing about the title is that, being non japanese, mimics graphic style, some of the bishoujo decission based mechanics and, more in the western way, some of the dialogues are simply hilarious and the characters funny enough to attract you. It's a good combination, I must admit.
I wanted to get the physical copy because it's a worthy games. I hope developers continue this great ascendant line, continued by the excellent Hunie Cam Studio and promising Hunie Pop 2. |
Please read this review
Clankytree I see a lot of reviews on here giving this game a hard time and I have absolutely no clue why. You see what you get with this game, and I think you get quite a lot. HuniePop is an amazingly fun, atmospheric, beautiful, relaxing, and well designed puzzle dating simulator. The dating elements of the game are quite light, and they're designed mostly for the player's all around enjoyment. You can do what you want; whether that be dating as many girls as you want, or sleeping with as many girls as you want. There remains no chance of repercussion, and the girl's interactions with each other remain entirely separate. The dating aspect of the game involves a simple system of questioning and answering, revolving around food and drink meters which allow the player to: talk to the girls, and earn more in game currency by getting them drunk first. The questions are simple in nature, and, depending on the character(Audrey for instance), are extremely funny. By answering questions correctly and learning more about the girls, you can unlock in game points which allow you to upgrade your character, in turn making the puzzle aspect of the game more enjoyable. The game's puzzles are extremely enjoyable, and, depending on the location, have beautiful views and music. They remain challenging, without detracting from the overall enjoyment due to difficulty. One criticism I could see being leveled is that the puzzles are the only way to progress the game (completing the "dates" allows the player to earn hearts, which, once a certain amount are achieved, allows the player to sleep with a character). To deal with this, the game implements unique gift items that you can use during the puzzle to cause some kind of effect. The gift is earned by giving a present to one of the girls, and the effect that gift has on the puzzle varies greatly. The trick pays off, and the gift system, along with the fact that each girl has a unique type of tile preference, keeps the game fresh and wonderful easily through one or two playthroughs. One thing I can't praise the game enough for is the absolutely gorgeous art style it utilizes. The environments are lovely, the girls are lovely (and have a slew of cute outfits and hairstyles), and the H pictures are beautiful to look at. Each girl is a hilarious cliché, and they, in large part due to the amazing voice acting, have wonderful personality and life imbued into them. I really can't praise this game enough, especially when you consider the price point, it's simply a steal, no other way to put it. Some other quick things I really loved about the game: the text message system through which the girls send you lewd pictures and cute texts, the voice acting (as previously mentioned), and its overall design. Like I said, you see what you get with this game, and I truly think it's worth your time and money. Thanks for reading! |
Great game- relieves stress
Viper79 I tried out this game from a suggestion by a good friend and seeing a couple people on YouTube playing. I was really skeptical bout it but I loved the game in its entirety. Its a great experience and it relieves my stress during the day. The puzzles are fun and the girls in the game are fun and has great realistic things. Overall a great game in my opinion and I probably would recommend it to a select few friends |
This is not a dating sim
j-smuv A big deal was made out of this being a western studio getting into the genre. This is a puzzle game. A pretty intricate, well thought out, puzzle game. But the cg's and story kind of feel like an afterthought. For example, in order for the story to progress you need to sleep with all the girls, not just focus on one you like. Which is good, because you find everything you can about each girl in about 5 minutes. There are no consequences for dating two girls that don't get along. Or even hopping from one girl to another in the same location. There is a mother and daughter that you get to sleep with. . . separately. .. with no way to get them together. Big missed opportunity there. There is also no real end to the dating story of this game. You don't end up with one of the girls, there is just a prize of more challenging puzzles. They DO realize that we do the puzzles to see the girls, right!? It's like being paid for work with more work. Others have mentioned the lack of quantity of cg's. That's a valid point too. Also, the quality, while good, is not at all what I'd consider hardcore content. I stopped looking at simple nude shots in middle school. |
Surprisingly Good
Dreadlord This game is fun and challenging.Although it's more a dating sim than a visual novel it's sill good and for such a good price I recommend this to anyone that is looking for something fun. |
Gem for any collection
VivianIzoku Read a few great reviews and took the dive into buying the game. Without warning I was yanked into a world of eye candy anime graphics and mouthy yet desirable characters you can't help but want to win a date with. What seems a simple game of get the girl turns into a challenging fun fest of memory quizs, dating, bejeweled, and things even a VN can't offer into one amazing gaming experience. Words cannot say, and pictures don't do it justice. All I can say is, take the leap and try it! |
Not a VN really
oldshoe It's not in any way a VN, nor does it try to be. It's pretty fast paced, fun to play and pretty addictive. I've completed the game several times over. Yes there could be more sex and more CG but I still love the game. If you're after plot and character depth don't look for it here. |
Great and Enjoyable.
Gamerdude32 Saw some youtubers play it and just their reactions alone made me want to try it. best money I've spent to date on games like this. Gameplay was original, the puzzles were fun and enjoyable though replay value is only for the puzzles really but besides that I'm still enjoying the game even after 100% it. would love to see some addons or maybe a second game with some small animations maybe or an interactive scene after...well you know but that's just me and a few others but over all it's worth the buy in the end. |
Good game for cheap price!
Nobikachu The game is differently worth my money but there could be improvement in the game but can't complain much for the cheap price. |
Good, but not great
NeoGenesis At its heart, Huniepop is a puzzle game similar to Bejeweled. You line up to match 3 or more icons and earn points towards a total to 'win' each date. There are items you can use to make earning points easier, as well as 'passion' which increases the bonus for each match.
The good: The puzzle aspect is fun, the characters have interesting personalities and are all well voice acted. The artwork is great, and there are 12 characters in total to date.
The bad: There's very little 'H' material in the game. For your hard work you're rewarded with a total of 4 images for each girl, the last of which has optional undies and/or bodily fluids.
The artwork doesn't really take into consideration the character personalities either. Even the shy nerd turns into an extrovert, posing spread-eagled so there's little variation in pose between the girls.
As a game, it'll pass a good few hours and is genuinely quite fun to play. As a dating sim it falls a little flat. Still, credit given where credit is due, it's worth a look. |
Pleasantly surprised!
Cloud I was never a great fan of match 3 style games due to the lack of varied game play the genre brings, however after playing Hunie Pop I've grown a little space in my heart for them!
To start i'll cover what I enjoyed:
- The puzzle mechanic itself is simple, enjoyable and does it's job. It felt more rewarding than just being a chore.
-The art style is great and something I would consider to be high quality given that the game itself is a western title. The amount of CG provided in the gallery is something you would more often than not find yourself paying upwards of $20 for, sot he fact that it all comes with a game priced at $10 is superb! Adding to this point I was exceedingly impressed with the effort put into the girls genitals, normally western titles use very simple anatomy with little detail. Also thank you for providing a toggle switch for panties! I love panties! (There is more to the CG's than what you can see in the screenshots provided here.)
- The voice acting was unexpected, but highly welcome given the overall quality of it and amount. It added a nice depth to the girls which was easy to understand. Each girls moans were convincing enough and sexy too!
Now here are a few things I felt could be improved upon:
- The UI although visually appealing and functional could have done a better job of giving us the information we needed when we wanted it. For example there is no way to switch between the girls bio's without moving back by one screen and then advancing forward by one screen again.
- There was a lack of what I would call "equality" between the H-CG that bothered me. You would have some girls that would put everything on show in an exceptionally appealing manor, while others would show little more than skin and a breast or two (One of my favorite girls suffered from this treatment, which was a huge disappointment.) I would like to see more consistency with what each girl shows to me, if one girl shows you everything, every other girl should too!
In conclusion I was especially impressed with this title given it's western origin and price point! Although it has a few rough edges that I spoke about, I would recommend you purchase this game if you have an appreciation for this form of erotic art coupled with a nice and satisfying match 3 mini game. |
Oddly Addicting
TreasureHunter Maybe it's just the simple puzzle gameplay, but I couldn't put the game down. Well worth the low price! |
Not just Yuri Game
WayneC Misleading Tightal Since the Game Has a Male Gender for Players So Ther Player Can Be Male Or Female All so Thares 2 hiden girls in the game |
I love this game...
ShiningDragon Under normal circumstances i am not the big fan of visual novels or stuff like this in general.
But somehow the developer could combine nice ecchi with a well known game (nejweled-clone, i would say) and a funny wannabe-supermacho adventure to get woman along.
Great, hopefully there will folloe additional content or at least another game like this. |
Almost worth its money
Deviantray While the mini game is fun (though the sex mini game is frustating) that is hardly a selling point. There is absolutely no way to fail in this game, which makes it really annoying. The character's attitudes towards you remain the same no matter what, as do their own personalities. "Nearly 50 CGs" is not something that should be bragged about in a dating sim.
Also, there is absolutely no benefit to dating a girl (aside from money) after you have sex with her, except maybe an outfit or two you may have missed. 10 bucks is a little too much for a game that falls short like this one. It could have been so much better. It's basically playing a hentai flash game that has better art. No story, sexy but little art, and the "sex cg" is always a major pain to get (if you're in the mood to fap and you have to deal with THAT game, get a stress ball.) If this were a 5 dollar game I'd say it's worth the money, but I'm sure you can achieve the same effect with an iphone game and some cg's from any eroge. |
wish there was more story
Jerfafa for what it is, its great. The puzzle game is deceiving in that its so much more than a simple "match 3, get points" the characters are memorable or cliche, and all of them have great voice actresses, I would say this game has the best english voice acting ive ever seen. The writing is hilarious. that said there are a few...well i want to say short-comings, but these are more personal tastes than actual problems: some of the characters (specifically Jessie and Tiffany) have little to no interaction with each other yes there's the initial introductory scene for each girl but other than that nothing. so yeah its above and beyond what these silly screenshots show but if you're looking for a well thought out plot, you might be dissapointed |
Erotic Puzzle Quest?
icepick.evans So, the artwork in this game is good, and the girls are varied, and the voice acting is surprisingly good instead of embarrassing (Kyu is my favorite ^o^).
The gameplay is varied enough to not just be "Bejewled with Porn" though I admit to wanting a bit more out of the world and characters than we actually got. The girl/boy split doesn't really add anything except which pronouns they use, the gift giving and questions are only important in that they serve only to play into the more focused puzzle portion of the game, and it seems like the information you can acquire on the girls is arbitrary at best.
But again, the girls are just the incentive. The puzzle portion is actually pretty addicting with its bells and whistles and progression. Even in the later stages, with a lot of date gifts and maxed abilities, it is still a challenge to reach the point goal for a girl if you don't play carefully (though broken hearts falling out of nowhere and clearing themselves is a bit of a dick move >.>).
All in all, I really liked this title, and it is an especial step up from the usual western erotic puzzle game / dating sim / light VN fare. As with my title of this review, this seems like an excellent jumping off point to a Puzzle Quest like affair.
But with sexy times. |
Cool Game. Bad VN
Nonashu The gameplay and mechanics that operate are real well done and how it ties with the game is and a really cool concept. I'm going on date just to play them. The Artwork is so pretty while holding a style of its own. And the fact that the whole cast if fully voiced, as someone that is a "voice" fetish, if there is one, I like this very much. I only there was something else that's really important. Oh yeah!!! A FUCKING STORY!? Seriously, Mangagamer is a Visual Novel site. This is a puzzle game, not a VN. Not only could I get my rocks of when the time came, but there is no story anywhere to anything. This character is a porn star and this other character is her daughter who is young pure college girl, "Ok, so what about it?", "Well . . . you can fuck them both." "Would they find out I did?" " . . . " There are all these real, interesting characters, but there ain't shit about them. They are just livestock to farm XP from for the puzzle game. I expected a story, especially form all the story enriched promo cg, and I got jack shit in regards to that. There isn't even a fucking end game. |
Could've been so much more
Obake This is a fun little Bejeweled almost-clone with pretty pictures and funny (or sometimes cringe-worth) one-liners.
And that's it. I'm not asking for a full-blown VN with a puzzle game in it here, but just a little bit of story to move things a long would have helped this title greatly. You don't really learn about the girls or get closer to them in any way, just clear a few puzzles and suddenly sex.
To go along with that, I'd like to see at least 1-2 more CGs per girl, possibly as a reward for filling out their profile information or giving them all the gifts or something.
Overall, what's here is good - there just isn't enough here. |
11/10
Noobkroyer I really enjoyed every moment of this game, I downloaded it on Steam for the censored version, you can however get a patch to uncensor it, my personal favorite in this game is Kyu, not only is she looking damn fine. But she also have a great humor and is really fun to listen too. The western manga-gaming industries normally make some cheap ass games, but I really enjoyed this one. It got the humor, the challenges, the hours or fun etc. And of course the ladies too.
I would diffrently rate this game 11/10, and wish more western gaming industries would enter this gaming genre, and make more games like this. Because this is probaly the best manga game I've played. |
Simple Fun
IntellectualSavage If game/story is of secondary importance to the 'content', then this is for you. A great cast of interesting girls - some of whom, despite being a little corny, are actually quite fun. What could've made this game even better - a couple more 'positions' for each girl. It'd give you more reason to date them again after you'd done the deal. Then again, for the price point... |
Pretty but Shallow
matsc I'm happy to see western studios getting into the genre, and this game shows a great deal of potential, but.... there isn't much to it. The story boils down to a few introduction quotes, there are very few pics to collect, the UI is clunky and unintuitive, and the game play is just dull and repetitive. Its just bejeweled with a couple quirks. It held my attention for an hour or two, that was about it. "Replay" value is limited to a couple unlockable girls, and even then there isnt a true ending anyway. I hope to see more from this studio, and there is potential here, but on its own this game is pretty weak.
Pros: Artwork, range of characters, soundtrack Cons: Clunky gameplay, no story to speak of, UI issues Score: 5/10 |
Not bad for the price.
PimplessPenguin Game is fairly simple and decent for passing the time. The voice acting gets the job done but feels a little forced at times (Personally switch it the 16-bit blips for dialogue). The puzzle is simple and fun. It comes into play during the dates and the "H" parts. The bed-scene puzzles can be a little frustrating as the bar seems to deplete a little too quickly sometimes but its manageable.
Not sure about Managagamer's version but the steam version has a misalignment with the cursor and it gets progressively worse as you move to the left side of the screen. However the game is still playable, just a little more challenging.
Overall, a decent but not "amazing" game. If you have time to kill and little money to spend give it a try. |
never again
chris hunie pop has set a new all time low for vn's. Ive played for 3 hours and its like playing a poor copy of a puzzle game with the same images. its true the pics change but only cloths and hair same 4 or 5 backgrounds. |
Better than FN PUZZLE QUEST!
TuxedoRay Seriously, I can't think of a better game for an otaku who loves puzzle games. Awesome soundtrack! I am thoroughly impressed & am wondering if there's an ending to this game! |
Simply Put: Addictive
Omicronus1326 Being a fan of Match-3's, Dating Sims and Japanese Visual novels, this game caught my eye when the dev's blog appeared as a suggested blog for me to follow (What do you know? That feature that Tumblr added was actually good for something!). For anyone that likes even one of these three genres of games, it's a must-have.
The art is beautiful, the voice acting is amazing (even during the steamy scenes), and the challenge of maintaining money and getting gifts to impress the ladies is, well...a challenge, in the best sense of the word. It really makes you think and forces you to really plan out how you're going to go about winning all those lovely ladies over.
The only hang-up I have (and it's not even that big a deal) was a window-sizing issue upon first starting up the game. I had to move my taskbar to one side to access the menus at the bottom of the window. For anyone else with this problem, switch it to the smaller window, put your taskbar back, and enjoy.
I'm not gonna deny, I actually had to force myself to stop playing for a minute and write this review. I highly recommend it to anyone that likes a challenge and is ready to give up most of their free time. |
I want add ons.
CruelShadowOwl If you don't have a fast mouse hand, don't buy this. If you are not good at bejeweled, don't buy this. If you want depth to your dating sim, don't buy this. If you want characters to react to who you are currently dating or really react to anything besides you, don't buy this.
The above makes this game sound horrid, but to be honest it is pretty addicting. Basically you are a virgin that sweats just from talking to girls and then a love fairy comes around and teaches you how to be a player. That may or may not sound appealing to you, I would rather have routes for the girls but in this game you date and have sex with them all.
The character list above is pretty spot on and when you are talking to the girl that's all you need to get her questions right, aside from remembering how tall she is and what not.
To get into her pants, you have to have four successful dates (last one has to be at night), and the points you need to accumulate in the mini-game go up each time you complete a date.
Now here is why you have to have a fast mouse hand, when you bring the girl back to your place you once again need to complete the mini-game to have sex with her. This is pretty annoying because you have to chain together 500+ points as the bar is rapidly going down.
There is no sex scenes, just a picture of either the girl's breasts with cum on them, or a different sex position with a cream pie. In one case its simply her sitting on your bed with cum on her face.
I really do like this game, I don't like how you are basically cheating on all of them at once and can't go into depth with the girl or that the girls only have four pictures each (Some have variations, panty shots or no panties etc etc). I don't like how the girls don't react to each other.
For instance, Kyanna has a child who in her introduction scene you learn is named Phillip. That's all you learn. No going back to her place and bonding with the kid, no interaction with the kid at all.
It's the same with the other girls, you can't mend Tiffanies and Jesse's relationship, your character doesn't even know they are related except for their last name.
The yuri mode is the exact same thing but the girls call you a girl instead of a guy and there is no cum in the sex scenes. There are three secret characters that I know of right now, there is an item that nobody knows what to do with right now so there could be four.
All in all, I want a patch that gives the girls depth instead of fucking and chucking them all because there is no point to do the sex scenes with them after you already have and the only reason to date her afterwards is to get money, ironic right? Making money by dating, lol.

Meh
Dragoneer the positive first: The voice acting is pretty cool, and its fun to hear an english dating sim for once, the date minigame is pretty fun alittle random ofc but thats ok.
The negative: virtually no art in this game, you have 5cgs for each girl, and only one is really a Hscene, and heres my problem....for a porn game it has extremely little porn......the sex is just a minigame like the date with no real voice acting exept some moaning, when you complete the minigame you get a pretty bad CG in a seductive pose and thats that..... And heres the other problem, exept the introduction to the girls, theres no story at all here, the girls dont say shit on the date or under sex so you basicly no story, just girls with mechanical lines that repeat over and over
Basicly if you dont expect any story developments or actual porn you probally will enjoy it, however for me it fell flat |
